DISQUALIFIED: Shane Rogers-Mauro for Member at Large

It was SUCH an honor to have been nominated, and to accept your nomination for Member at Large in this special election! For 15-years, I have worked continuously to better our Union and our profession and will always put our members’ needs and goals at the front and center of my contributions. I gave the ultimate sacrifice, having been terminated in 2024 by this company for doing what was ultimately considered Union work in an unjust, unreasonable termination, yet I was returned to work by a long, nearly two-year arbitration and fully restored me as if I never left, with back-pay, back seniority, back PTO/Vacation and more. The company was forced to recognize this unjust termination as determined by the arbitrator (judge) in my case. Our Union did an amazing job with their work in my arbitration, and we all won with this decision. It is my win. It is YOUR win. Unfortunately, the Union just determined that while I was awaiting the arbitration decision (delivered to us on October 8, 2025) that period of time where I was terminated and awaiting a decision was a time when I was *not* a “member in good standing” regardless, making me ineligible to run as a candidate for this race. I believe this to be a gross misinterpretation of the Constitution and Bylaws in my case by a few who truly didn’t want me in a leadership position from within the Union. In fact, it is a real misinterpretation I would never have believed would come from the Union I supported for the past 15-years. I have NEVER been anything other than in “good standing.” Although I will not be a candidate as planned for this special election, I will be going NOWHERE. I continue my DAILY support of my profession and you, my co-workers, with anything I can do to help you be successful. And I will be back. We should never, ever prevent anyone who has talent and dedication from serving our members, nor should we prevent our members from electing someone who will stand up for them through anything. It is a mistake by the Elections Committee, and it is ultimately a mistake by the current Executive Board to agree with the misinterpretation. Thank you for your support and for keeping strong during these extremely tough times. I’ve never seen such tough times in my decades in this profession, and I must be optimistic and say things will get better. They will get better if we work together to MAKE them better. Wear your Union pins. Elect the STRONGEST, MOST EXPERIENCED leadership. Keep up with current events. We can make the profession better every day. VOTE! After receiving the letter from the Executive Board, I did what I needed to do: I went to Disney World for a long weekend!
